Buganda and Kampala Province teams were, on Wednesday 27th, July 2022, flagged off by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, ahead of the 3rd edition of the FUFA Drum tournament.

During the ceremony, where the Katikkiro hosted team officials and players from Buganda and Kampala Province in Mengo, urging them to always do whatever takes Buganda Kingdom and Uganda as a country ahead.

“Buganda Kingdom always appreciates you (Buganda and Kampala) for representing the kingdom well. I urge you not to mix politics in sports because it is the only way we can achieve the best,” said the Katikkiro.

“Use well your God given talents because it is the only way you will achieve the best. Also, put in mind that displine drives it all and your personal behaviors should be exemplary,” the Katikkiro added.

“The flagging of teams, that is Buganda and Kampala provinces, will help us get a warm welcome in the community because people in the central region will have a strong attachment to the teams,” stated Eng. Abdul Kawuulu Mwanje, the chairman of the Buganda province executive committee.

In attendance was Owek. Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu, the FUFA President Hon Eng. Moses Magogo, Roger Byamukama (Chairman of The FUFA Drum Committee), Samuel Mpiima (FUFA EXCOM), Hon. Patrick Nsanja, Andrew Kaweesa (Chairman Buganda RFA), Edrisi Kasalirwe (Chairman Kampala RFA), the Buganda Province Chairman, Mr Kawuulu Abdul, FUFA Delegates in Hassan Kavuma and Musiime Jackline, Hajji Ssekabira Abdul, and other Buganda Province Committee members.

Buganda province were the winners of the FUFA Drum inaugural edition in 2018, and they will be facing Kigezi province at Kabale stadium in their opening match on 5th Aug 2022, and later on, a return leg slated for 14th August 2022.
