We are glad to announce the signing of Joseph Othieno from Moso Sugar FC on a three-year contract.
The towering centre back becomes our fourth signing of the January transfer window following the earlier acquisition of Hussein Ssenoga, Lumumba Norman Eluzai and Shafiq Avemah.
“I was born and grew up in Lugazi. I think it is the right time to come back home and pick up myself. I believe if one works hard, he achieves and I am here to exactly do that,” he said.
Othieno began his career at Lugazi Young Academy before he joined Villa Jogo Young in his early playing days.
He won the Copa Coca Cola football championship with Buddo Secondary School in 2009, and captained Buwekula to the final of the Buganda Masaza Cup in 2012.
Othieno has previously played for Kira Young (2013), SC Victoria University (2014/15), UPDF FC (2015-2018) and Ndejje University (2021) in Uganda.
He had a short spell at Musongati FC of Burundi before featuring for Buja City between 2022 and 2023.
In 2024, he was transferred to Moso Sugar where he played in the Burundi Primus League until recently.
Everyone at Lugazi FC is delighted to welcome Othieno to the club.
