The FUFA Appeals Committee has upheld the appeal filed by Lugazi FC which sought to overturn the decision of the Buganda Region FA Tournaments Disciplinary Panel dated 14th March 2022.
Lugazi FC appealed against the decision of the committee which ruled that the club (Lugazi FC) had used ineligible player in the names of Moses Feni Ali in match No.13 played against Lugazi Municipal FC at Mehta Stadium.
As par the FUFA Appeals committee ruling, Lugazi FC gained her point which was lost by forfeiture and the match results now stands.
Meanwhile, Feni Ali Moses has been cleared to play for Lugazi FC in the ongoing Buganda Region 3rd Division League.
Summary terms of the decision the committee has decided to communicate only the following summary terms of the decision:
- Upon critical analysis of the grounds of appeal filed by Lugazi Football club it has been ascertained that whereas Feni Ali Moses was contracted by Kyetume FC up to January 2022 he was not registered and licensed for Kyetume FC in the FUFA connect system for the season of 2020/2021 as a result his registration with Lugazi FC in the mid-season could not be stopped by Article 12(3) of the regulations on status and transfer of players which only stops players registered and licensed with clubs in the 1st and 2nd division.
- Consequently the appeal filed by Lugazi FC succeeds and as a result the decision of the Buganda Region Tournament disciplinary panel is overturned and the results of Match No:13 between Lugazi FC and Lugazi Municipal FC be maintained therefore the TOC should update the table standing in accordance with this decision.
