In another show of grit and strong fighting spirit, Lugazi FC earned a vital point on the road following the 0-0 draw against Wakiso Giants on Wednesday.

The result moved the Leaders to the ninth place at the time of writing, with nine points – same as three other teams below us on the table, from eight rounds played.

At Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, we put up an energetic display with purpose but the hosts were resilient as the teams shared the points.

It was a battle of the midfield, explaining the so much action in the middle of park and few goal scoring chances at either end.

It took until the 10th minute to see the first chance of the game, Wakiso Giants first crafting it through Marvin Oshaba.  Goalkeeper Fahad Emuran came off his line in a blink to save.

Emmanuel Obua, Freedom Mungudit and Rogers Adriko all smashed their shots wide.

Emuran was then called into action at the half hour mark when he stretched wide enough to palm Tom Masiko’s free kick from the edge of the box into corner and keep the scores at 0-0.

In the second half, a brilliant team move involving substitute Ian Amanya and Bashamu Mugwa ended with Sam Ssemugugu firing his shot into the stands.

We continued to fight for every ball and easily denied the Purple Sharks any pocket of space in our area until the referee blew the final whistle.

The Leaders will hit the road again in a second consecutive away match in the Uganda Premier League against Police FC at Kavumba Recreation Grounds on November 20.
