Faizo Matovu has won Lugazi FC’s Fans Player of the Month prize for the very first time, after an impressive April for the left footed defender.
Matovu was consistent in his performances despite a fairy mixed run of results for the Leaders. From the confidence boosting 2-1 home victory over Kiyinda Boys, to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Onduparaka.
The club also played out back-to-back draws against Blacks Power and Kyetume FC, with Matovu playing every minute throughout the month.
Our center back produced incredible performances in all the games, as well as in the goalless draw against Kataka FC in our most recent outing.
Matovu garnered 692 votes beating off competition from four other nominees – Freedom Mungudit, midfielder Ali Ashavin Bayo, Derrick Mwanje and January signing Richard Ayiko.
The defender is the second player to take home the Fans Player of the Month this season.
The first two winners of the award have all been defenders, with Gift Muhamad Lubega the first recipient for his performance in March.
