Uganda Premier League

UPDF FC Vs Lugazi FC

Bombo Military Grounds

Kick-off: 4pm

Lugazi FC are on the road for the first time in the Uganda premier league as we visit UPDF FC at the Bombo military grounds on Thursday evening.

Sadick Sempigi and the players will be looking to find the right footing as soon as possible before the season runs away especially after losing our opening game last Saturday.

We sit at the base of the table coming into this fixture.

UPDF scrapped a one all draw in their opening match away at Maroons and lies 8th on the log with one point. This trip will be our first meeting with the army men.

Words from Sadick Sempigi

“We have corrected some areas in which we didn’t perform well in our previous game where we didn’t do well in the first half although we came back and dominated possession in the second half. So for this game, we having been working hard to strengthen our defence, the attack and also refine our tactics.”

“We feel like it’s an opportunity for us to bounce back and give our best so that we can a pick a good result as the season is still in its beginning phase. We believe UPDF is a very good team, they are at home but their pitch is good and can allow our game to flow.”

Sempigi has also confirmed club captain and experienced rocky defender Richard Ayiko has returned to the fold after shaking off the virus.

“There are some players who limped in the first game and others entirely missed it, including Richard Ayiko but they will make the squad tomorrow.  Ayiko is the club captain, and we believe he is now fine. He had some malaria, he has been treated well and therefore, he is available for selection,” he said.

Richard Ayiko said;

“We need tomorrow’s game as players. This is the time to make amends and get the three points. After losing the first game, it’s now upon us to lift ourselves because the preparations and what the coaches have given us are enough.”
