Buikwe Red Stars Football Club 0-4 Lugazi FC
Lugazi FC qualified to Buganda Regional League promotional play off after their 4-0 victory over Buikwe Red Stars Football Club on Sunday 22nd, May 2022 at Buikwe Stadium.
Gerald Ogweti`s hat trick and a goal from Deogratious Ssentongo were enough to guide Augustine Nsumba’s side to victory hence booking a place in the Region final.
Gerald Ogweti converted two (2) penalties in the 17th and 23rd minutes respectively to send the visitors into lead before the halftime break.
At the restart of the game, Nsumba made changes, introduced exciting-pacey winger Moses “Hitler” Buga, experienced Feni Ali Moses and David Kabuye for Ronald Andabati, Martin Ssemuddu and Isaac Kizza respectively to contain his lead.
In the 65th minute, Deogratious Ssentongo scored from Moses Buga well laid cross from the left flank to make it 3-0 for the visitors before Gerald Ogweti completed his hat-trick nine minutes to final whistle.
A win over Buikwe Red Stars did not only qualify Lugazi to promotional play offs but also guided them (Lugazi FC) to complete a double.
With a game to go, Lugazi are at the top of the table with 48 points eight (8) above second placed side, Seeta United Football Club.
Lugazi FC will now face Katonga Group winners, Kajjansi United Football Club in Masaka City at the recreation grounds in June and the overall winner will gain promotion to FUFA Big league.
