Lugazi FC`s hopes to emerge from the third division to the Big league have been troubled as,on Wednesday 20th-may-2020 FUFA decided to end all its competitions that have been on halt close to two months due to the Covid-19 pandemic
FUFA applied article 18 of the FUFA Competitions rules to decide the fate of both the Katonga group and Ssezibwa group
Article 18(1) states that, where the league format due to circumstances of force majeure fails to be completed within the season, the league winner shall be determined as follows:
a) Before every Club has completed its first round fixture the league shall be declared null and void.
b) Where all the Clubs in the league have completed the first round fixture but less than 75% league games have been played, the table standings at the end of the first round shall be considered as the final table standings of the league.
c) Where at least one club has played more than 75% of the league games, the following formula shall be used by TOC to determine the table positions for the respective group:
d) A total number of points earned from the number of games played multiplied by the total number of games supposed to be played divided by the number of games played.
In this case, Buikwe Red Stars FC from Ssezibwa group had played 15 games out of the 20 games which are supposed to be played which is equivalent to 75%
Therefore, Ssezibwa group table leaders Luweero United FC and Katonga group table leaders Buwambo United FC will face off in the regional playoffs before tussling out Kampala Regional League champions in the promotional playoffs to the Big League next Season. This leaves Lugazi FC in the second Place in a no promotion zone.
