Uganda premier league’s unforgiving second half, that mainly requires positive results on the pitch, began on Tuesday.
Lugazi FC are in mid-week action on Wednesday, welcoming visitors Police FC to the fancy Lugazi FC Stadium-Najjembe for a match day 16 promising clash. When the teams met in mid-November for the first leg, the game finished 0-0 at Kavumba Recreation Grounds.
The Leaders had a challenging first round, managing two wins and eight draws in 15 matches. Our final eight games of the half saw us draw six times, and lose two. In our last home fixture, we suffered a painful 2-1 defeat to BUL FC. This left us with some ground to make up.
Fortunately, the league broke off perfectly at the right time – with the January transfer window providing an opportunity for the club to bolster the squad.
We acquired the services of strikers – Lutakome Jumah Junior and Shafiq Avemah to solve the goal drought. Midfield architects Lumumba Norman Eluzai and Hussein Ssenoga joined to fortify the midfield, while the experienced Joseph Othieno is expected to serve as a bulwark in defense.
Currently, we sit in the 13th place with 14 points.
Police FC apparently occupy the 10th position on the table with just 18 points. They failed to win any of their last four league games, and this means they were not any better than us as the first round wore on.

Coach Steven Bogere has a fully fit squad to choose from as Lugazi FC look to return to winning ways in the league.
After the final preparations at Ndoddo training ground, team captain Richard Ayiko said the team is set to shift in an extra gear tomorrow to bring all the three points.
“We need to change our position on the table. So, we need to win that game! We’ve had enough preparations, we’re playing at home and we are going to put in the hard work to win it.”
