Proficient attacking midfielder Abdul Kalanzi has been named the best footballer for February 2025 in the Real Stars Sports Awards.
He received his accolade on Tuesday at Lazio Bar and Restaurant in Kampala.
Kalanzi literally won Lugazi FC all the three games in February. He scored a goal against Police FC, and Bright Stars which earned the Leaders identical victories of 1-0 on both occasions in the Uganda premier league.
The mesmerising midfield schemer stretched his great performances to the Stanbic Uganda Cup where he scored a brace as Lugazi FC beat Calvary FC 2-0 to cruise to the round of 16 of this knock-out competition.
His four goal haul and awesome showings in February were enough to sweep aside the stiff competition from close contenders Allan Okello (Vipers SC) and Patrick Kaddu of Kitara FC.

Shortly after receiving the award, Kalanzi said;
“It means a lot to a little boy like me hailing from Buikwe. It has given me the motivation to continue working hard and come for more awards going forward.”
“Winning this award is however not solely down to me. A lot of people are behind these great steps and this success. Trust from teammates and the coach is always vital to any player, and you will always have top notch performances when you have their backs.”
“Actually beating experienced players to this award means I can scale great heights in my career.”
Kalanzi has so far had a great performance this season. Apparently, he has seven goals and four assists in 13 games across all competitions.
