We are delighted to announce that Coach Francis Mugerwa has joined our technical team on a one year renewable contract.

Mugerwa, a CAF A licensed coach, joins the team with immediate effect and will work hand in hand with Steven Bogere as co-coaches.

This well calculated decision underscores the club’s obligation to build a strong technical bench with a blend of tactical skills, understanding of the game and experience in player handling and development.

Steven Bogere is a well-known and respected figure at Lugazi FC having led us to; the round of 16 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, and a 13th place finish in the Uganda premier league last season.

Joining him is Francis Mugerwa who also comes with a lot of experience in topflight football having served as a coach at Proline FC, Maroons FC, Onduparaka FC, Kitara FC, Arua Hill SC and Bright Stars in the previous years. He was also part of the coaching staff at Vipers SC in the 2020/21 season.

As a player, he represented the likes of Bell FC (1993), State House FC (1994/1995), SC Villa (1996-1999) and Kinyara Sugar Works FC (2004).

After signing his contract, Francis Mugerwa said;

“I am grateful for this opportunity. Coach Steven Bogere is a long term friend, and Lugazi FC is a big project – so, I could not turn down the chance of being part of it. The project here impressed me, it’s full of young players and I just love working with them.”

“However, I have come to join synergies with the rest of the coaches here. We want to build a strong team together, we want to establish a young team that can also bring positive results, we want to make Lugazi FC Stadium a difficult place for opponents but above all, we want to do that while playing exciting football. We want our fans to enjoy and I am sure they will like it.”

In the same line, Coach Oliver Mbekeka has left the club after the expiration of her contract. We would like to thank Mbekeka for the commitment she showed while involved with our club, and we wish her well in her next chapter.

She will always receive the warmest of welcomes at Lugazi FC.
