Date: Friday, December 15, 2023
Venue: St. Gerald Stadium, Ibanda
Lugazi FC is gearing up for an exhilarating clash against Kaaro Karungi FC in their eagerly awaited matchday 12 encounter at the St. Gerald Stadium in Ibanda.
The Leaders enter this fixture in second place on the 15-team table, only three points behind table-toppers Police FC, albeit with a game in hand.
With 15 points to their name, three points from Ibanda will be crucial in their pursuit of promotion.
Under the guidance of their experienced head coach, Richard Makumbi, Lugazi FC has been in excellent form in the Big League, recording four wins and a draw in their last five games.

Meanwhile, Kaaro Karungi FC finds themselves in the 10th position, with 15 points from 12 games, and are on a three game unbeaten run (W1 D2) since their defeat to Ondupraraka last month.
Lugazi FC’s head coach, Richard Makumbi, emphasized the importance of securing all three points as they push for promotion.
He stated, “We have had good preparations for the game, even though they have not been perfect, especially ahead of a game like this.”
“Despite some injuries, we have tried to be comprehensive in the detail needed for the game. We shall be missing a few crucial players, but I have trust in the group to get the three points that we came here for.”
Lugazi head into the game without the services of Moses Buga, who was unfortunately withdrawn from the squad due to malaria.
However, the return of key players, Derrick Mwanje and Ronald Ssempala, from suspension, adds depth and experience to the team.
Additionally, Okello Tabu makes a welcome return and is set to feature in the matchday squad.
Lugazi FC’s captain, Ssali Elijah, expressed the team’s readiness for the challenge, saying, “The boys are in high spirits, and we are aware that this is not an easy place to come.
“However, we are ready for the task. The coaches have provided us with crucial details, which we believe will be important for us.”
Lugazi FC’s offensive prowess centers around the exceptional goal poacher, Sam Ssemugugu, who has already notched up an impressive tally of 8 goals in the league.
Sam’s goal-scoring prowess makes him a key player to watch, with only one goal behind Police FC’s Isaac Ogwang in the race for the league’s top scorer.
