Uganda Premier League
Lugazi FC Vs NEC FC
Lugazi FC Stadium – Najjembe
Kick-off: 4pm
Lugazi FC return to Lugazi FC Stadium – Najjembe on Wednesday evening with NEC FC the visitors.
The Leaders will be looking to build on our first victory of the season a week ago thanks to the 1-0 win against Express FC at Hamz stadium.
For the first time, we moved off the foot of table and into the 13th place with five points after six rounds.
Everyone around the team is now full of hope because of this positive stride, the players’ character is now encouraging and they’re raring to stand tall and be counted in every game we play.
It is the first game since Steven Bogere joined our strong technical team as the head coach.
The opposition:
NEC FC are in a great run of form, having won five of their six games this season. They have also scored in each of them. Despite this impressive run, they are second on the log with 15 points.
Team News:
It’s a full squad to choose from for the technical team, with Muhammed Gift Lubega returning from suspension.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Coach Oliver Mbekeka said;
“Since the last game, we have been working on the psychological aspect of the players. We are now very much prepared psychologically and tactically. The boys are physically fit, technically and tactically good. Even their mental fitness is apparently great.”
“We know the team we are going to face is on form and second on the table but football is a game of possibilities, anything can happen because we believe in God.”
“Our approach this time will be different from the one we had in our last game. All the coaches – Steven Bogere, Gerald Efit, Kizza and I have worked together with the boys to strategize and we believe we can win tomorrow.”
Attacking midfielder – Ian Amanya was full of confidence, saying that all players are determined to make our home advantage count.
“We got our first league win seven days ago and it was a very much boost to us. We are building on that confidence, character and determination we had in that game to take on NEC tomorrow.”
“Secondly, we are at home and cannot allow to lose another game from here. We are going to make our home advantage count as we are so much prepared, confident and determined to take on the opponents.”
