Uganda Premier League

Lugazi FC Vs KCCA FC

Lugazi FC Stadium-Najjembe

Kick-off: 4pm

Following two consecutive away games, buoyant Lugazi FC returns to the home turf this Saturday to face KCCA FC in the Uganda premier league at 4pm.

Steven Bogere’s men are cruising on a five unbeaten streak coming into this game, and the aura around the team is of a serial winner ever since the team strode off the base of the log. Currently, they are 12th on the table with 10 points after nine rounds of play.

Victories against Express and NEC were vital in changing the course of the team, while the recent barren draws against Wakiso Giants and Police FC have ploughed infinite self-belief into the players – moulding them into warriors obsessed with collecting points in every match they play.

It’s with this lion-like spirit that they will approach Saturday’s clash against the third placed KCCA FC who were recently brought down to earth by NEC in their last outing.

Coach Steven Bogere and Mbekeka Oliver have built a scary tactical machine in the forest, and their combo has proved so innovative since the former arrived at the Lugazi FC Stadium in late October.

Notably, this will be the first meeting between the two teams.

Speaking after the last work out at Ndoddo training ground, coach Mbekeka Oliver said the Leaders have been adequately prepared, and dangerously armed, and only waiting to finish off the opponents tomorrow on the pitch.

“The boys are in good shape! We expect good attitude and a strong character from them. We expect to win and we are ready to walk home with victory.”

“We plan to approach KCCA FC in a very strong way. It’s totally going to be a different approach from the one we used in our previous games.”

“We know we cannot win without scoring and we have been working on it. We have been teaching them good combination play. Connecting from defence to midfield and then to the attacking line is what we lacked in our past two games.”

“Now the midfield can move the ball efficiently, the attackers have also been shooting excellently and they all look fine.”

“Every team that’s in the league is a strong team, we cannot undermine KCCA FC. We shall respect them but we shall not fear them because now we need to win. We drew our last two games, and this time we need to win again to position ourselves well on the table.”

Defender Emmanuel Obua shares the coach’s opinion and also believes the Leaders will outclass the visitors tomorrow.

“As players, I want to say we are in good shape. Our coaches have guided and trained us throughout these days and we are looking ahead to getting positive results from tomorrow’s game.”

“We are not undermining the team we are going to play because they have stayed in this league for long but as players, we are determined to go into the game with our heads up.  We are going to play it like any other normal game – we are not scared of anything.”

“The boys are set, everyone is fine and the camp is okay.”

The coaches have almost a full squad to choose from, with only Rogers Atube missing the game through injury.
