We were narrowly defeated at St. Mary’s Stadium on Thursday as Abdul Karim Watambala’s goal midway the second half proved to be enough for Vipers SC to take all the three points.
Watambala picked a pass on the left inside channel, and then strolled across the face of the goal before dispatching a low shot through some bodies, and beyond goalkeeper Juma Mutebi and into the low corner six minutes after the hour.
His strike was followed by a wood work from Allan Okello whose header from inside the box almost doubled the hosts’ lead but it kissed the cross bar and behind in the 76th minute.
The Leaders pushed for a late goal but couldn’t get an effort on goal as we lost for the third time in a row.

Before the telling moment, the Leaders had managed the contest well as we perfectly held the hosts at bay for more than an hour with a good piece of goalkeeping, enviable art of defending, and sitting in a low compact block without the ball, and only attacking when it was safe to throw the bodies infront.
Emmanuel Obua had a top notch goal line clearance in the 34th minute when he camped at the near post to head out a goal bound header from the Venoms following a corner situation.
After the restart, Juma Mutebi was also forced into a big save in the 48th minute when he tipped a dangerous dropping ball into the corner.
Focus now turns to UPDF FC who we host next week on Friday at the Lugazi FC Stadium – Najjembe, 4pm.
