Uganda Premier League

Kitara FC Vs Lugazi FC

The Royals Park

Kick-off: 4pm

Lugazi FC make the trip to Hoima on Tuesday to face Kitara FC at The Royals Park-Butema, as Steven Bogere and his squad look to pick the rails again following a run of four games without victory.

This unwished-for situation has left the Leaders in the 11th place on the table after 23 matches with 27 points, nine above the red zone.

Lugazi FC and Kitara FC last met in mid-September last year at the Lugazi FC Stadium, with the Royals running out 3-0 winners.

Looking ahead to the match, assistant coach Gerald Efiti shared his views and expectations from the clash.

“They are so good at home and they have scored lots of goals from there but we have prepared the boys very well to stop them.”

“We lacked some good defending in our previous games but for tomorrow’s match, everyone is ready, we have prepared them well and corrected all those mistakes. I don’t think the opponents will afford to score against us.”

“Given that teams below us on the table are winning and we are not, that has sparked some little pressure. So, we are trying so hard to see that we return to winning ways.”

“We are doing all we can to win again. Our previous problem was scoring goals, and the goals have started to come. Unfortunately, we started to concede lots of goals at the same time. But we have worked on that and we believe we are not going to concede this time.”

Efiti also provided a brief squad update ahead of the match, confirming the absence of Richard Ayiko and Sam Ssemugugu.

“We shall miss Captain Richard Ayiko because of suspension after accumulating yellow cards, and striker Sam Ssemugugu who is down because of illness but we have prepared the rest adequately and they are willing to step up.”

“We don’t train individuals, we train the whole team. So, others are going to play and we have trust in them.”

A look at the opposition

Currently, Kitara FC are placed 5th on the table with 35 points. They will also be looking at returning to winning ways after suffering a painful 2-1 defeat last time out, away at NEC FC four days ago.

They are currently one of the most in-form sides in the division while playing at home after picking up seven wins from their past eight league games at the Royals Park, conceding just one goal in that time.
