We are delighted to announce the appointment of Abbey Kikomeko Bogere as the head coach of the senior men’s team.
He begins his duties immediately having signed a two-year contract with the Leaders. His backroom staff will be communicated in the due process.
One of the respected coaches around, Kikomeko alias Capello, arrives at Lugazi FC having already experienced coaching at the pinnacle of Uganda’s club football with Busoga United and BUL FC, where he led the latter to back-to-back FUFA Super 8 trophies in 2023 and 2024, and a historic second place finish in the 2023/24 season.
On his appointment, Kikomeko said:
“I feel excited after being appointed the Lugazi FC head coach. It’s a good club with good facilities, and very organised.”
“I have been watching the team play, I have been seeing its organisation, and this enticed me to take up the opportunity.”
“My policy is always to compete for trophies, and under my regime here, were are going to compete for them. I have not come just to spend my time here, I have come to compete just like I have been doing at my previous work places.”
“Next season will be Lugazi FC’s third campaign in the league. So, it’s no longer new in the top division. Therefore, we are not going to take part in the league just to fight relegation, were are going to compete.”
“I have been tasked to lead this team to good and respectable positions in the league, and I am going to do exactly that. That’s not something difficult to do.”
Before joining BUL FC, he coached Mbale Heroes, and Kirinya – Jinja SS (Busoga United), a team he helped gain promotion to the Uganda Premier League in 2016. He also led Jinja Secondary School to the Copa Coca Cola title in 2017.
Kikomeko holds a CAF A coaching license, and has a strong track record of developing young talents.
His appointment reflects the club’s belief in his coaching quality, leadership attributes, character, broad set of experiences and player development, which were key to the decision to task him with leading the next phase of Lugazi FC journey.
