Following the expiry of his contract at the end of last season, we are now excited to announce that team Captain Richard Ayiko has signed a new two-year contract with the club, ensuring his stay with the Leaders until at least 2028.
Last season, the evergreen versatile defender was outstanding in all the 26 games he played for the club – scoring one goal.
Ayiko joined Lugazi FC at the beginning of 2024 and has been a kingpin of the team, particularly in defence.
Since his arrival, the rock-solid rear guard has showcased remarkable hard work, professionalism and leadership, both on and off the pitch. His commitment and tenacity have made him an essential player for the Leaders.
Ayiko’s exceptional performances were instrumental in the club’s promotion to the topflight two years ago, and his pragmatic leadership has ensured the team stays afloat in the Uganda Premier League, thereby solidifying his reputation as a reliable and influential figure within the squad.
With this contract renewal, Lugazi FC is excited and confident about the future.
